Srinagar, January 08 (KNO) : Hurriyat Conference (M) on Tuesday strongly condemned the continuous ‘harassment’ of people as ‘forces are collectively punishing the people and have unleashed a reign of terror’ across Kashmir especially in South Kashmir by launching frequent CASOs wherein people of all ages including elderly, women and children are asked to stay out of their house in the biting cold for hours together, youth harassed and arrested. In a statement issued to KNO, Hurriyat (M) spokesman said that the authorities through its repressive measures have pushed Kashmiri youth to the wall and despite ultimate repression, GOI has failed to break to resolve of the freedom loving people of Kashmir. He also paid tributes to the armed youth Irfan Ahmed Rather who was killed in a gun battle at Litter, Pulwama. “The sacrifices are being offered for the cause of right to self-determination and its time that leadership and the people stand united and pursue the cause with great vigor and zeal,” spokesman said. The statement strongly condemned the continuous detention of senior leader Mukhtar Ahmed Waza since past one week. Terming Waza’s detention as ‘undemocratic’, Hurriyat (M) said that Waza is being frequently lodged in Police station and not allowed to carry his political and social activity. Hurriyat (M) said that keeping activists and youth caged in police stations is now a new norm of the authorities as they deny all possible space to the resistance leadership and youth to present their point of view.(KNO)
